How to archive a task

Archiving takes a task out of your active lists and keeps its history. It can be restored at any time.

Archiving is how a task leaves your household’s rotation. The task stops appearing in lists and suggestions, its completion history is kept, and it can be restored at any time.

There are three ways to archive a task:

  • Swipe the task’s row to the left
  • Press and hold the row, then tap Archive task
  • Open the task, tap in the top right, then Archive task

Archiving asks for no confirmation, because nothing is lost. The row stays where it was and changes appearance instead of disappearing, so the list doesn’t rearrange under your finger.

To bring a task back:

  • Tap Undo on the message that appears right after archiving
  • Tap Restore on the archived row, or tap anywhere on the row
  • Go to Settings → Tasks → Archived and tap the task

The archived row holds its place until the list next loads — so leaving the screen or pulling down to refresh lets it go. After that, the Archived screen is where the task lives. It lists everything archived, newest first, and has a search field.

While a task is archived:

  • It doesn’t appear in the Focus tab, the Tasks tab, or suggestion notifications
  • Its completion history is kept, and comes back with it
  • Pending requests for it are hidden rather than cancelled, and return when the task does
  • It can’t be requested — asking for it prompts you to restore it first

Tip

If a task is only slightly wrong — too frequent, wrong room, wrong earnings — edit it rather than archiving it.

Note

Owners and Managers can archive any task. Members can archive the tasks they created. Rows you can’t archive simply have no left-swipe. See household roles.
