What is a request?
One household member asking another about an existing task. It doesn’t assign, lock, schedule, or duplicate the task.
A request is one household member asking another about a task that already exists. It’s a way of saying “could you have a look at this one?” without changing the task or the way FreshChores treats it.
A request does not:
- Assign the task to anyone
- Lock it, so nobody else can do it
- Schedule it, or change when it next comes up
- Make a second copy of it
The task stays a normal shared task. Anyone in the household can still complete it, and completing it is what closes the request.
Several requests can exist on the same task at once — different people can ask different people about it — and they stay separate rather than merging into one.
When someone has asked you about a task, you’ll see it outside the Requests screen too:
- The row is outlined in a faint rainbow wherever it appears
- A “→ Me” marker sits at the start of its second line
- It’s collected under Requests for me on the Tasks tab — a section of task rows in the flat Tasks view, or a card in the Rooms and Categories views — leading through to the Requests screen
- Pressing and holding the row names who asked
Note
Requests are social coordination, not assignment. Declining one is a normal answer, and so is ignoring it until it expires.
