The capture widget
Three buttons on your Home Screen. Each opens the app ready to add, complete, or add to My List — and you choose which.
The capture widget is the fastest way in. A wide button across the top and two round ones below it, each opening FreshChores on one of its capture screens.
Out of the box, the top button is Speak to complete, and the two below are Speak to add to My List and Speak to add. The app starts listening as soon as the screen opens, so you can say what you finished, what you want to focus on, or describe a task or an area to make new tasks from.
Choosing the buttons. Touch and hold the widget and choose Edit Widget. Each of the three slots offers the same four actions:
- Speak to complete — say what tasks you completed.
- Speak to add to My List — say what you want to focus on.
- Speak to add — describe a task or an area, and the app drafts tasks from it.
- Add task — type one task’s title, the same as the add button in the app.
Two slots can hold the same action if that suits you. The widget itself holds no task data and never refreshes, so it costs nothing in the background.
Note
The capture widget needs iOS 17 or later. On iOS 18, the same actions are also offered as Control Center and Lock Screen buttons.
